The Toronto Blue Jays won by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3. Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Toronto won it in the 10th inning. Chris Colabello doubled. Jhonny Peralta stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Jordy Mercer then drew a walk to load the bases. Torii Hunter struck out, unable to help the rally. Anthony Rizzo came to the plate and lined a base-hit making Toronto the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Toronto ended up with 9 hits for the game while Tampa Bay had 4. Beltre made sure the Oakland fans enjoyed themselves. He belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning. Oakland had a total of 17 hits for the game. It was the 4th shutout of the year for Gray(15-8). The right-handed Gray lost his chance for a no-hitter when Andre Ethier singled with nobody out in the 8th inning. Madison Bumgarner(17-13) was charged with the loss. San Francisco's manager was obviously impressed with the pitching of Gray, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there this afternoon. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.' Leonys Martin had a big day against Detroit. He tripled plating a run in the 4th inning and tripled plating three runs in the 9th inning. Minnesota simply wore out the Detroit pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings. Wainwright(17-11) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Carlos Martinez(2-7) ended up with the loss.
